Group visits

Your visit starts with the guide meeting the bus and introducing you to the tram driver, the conductor and restored Tram 29, the last of Launceston’s double bogie trams.

We commence with our double barreled tramride on Tram 29, a 1940s experience up and down the Inveresk track.  This is followed by another run, this time accompanied by sound effects and voices to introduce you to Inveresk’s fascinating past in the days of steam.

A guided tour of the Workshop follows where visitors are introduced to the restoration program including a close inspection of Trams 1 and 26.

Your guide will then take you through the Display Gallery next door where you will be able to explore the history and heritage of the tramway service, by way of displays, movie footage, introductions to themes, stories and fascinating items in the Museum’s collection, plus a large screen presentation on how Launceston has changed since Victorian times.

There will also be opportunities at the end of the visit to peruse an interesting range of souvenirs and other merchandise.
